I Heart Badges

Last weekend i was scouting about for things to talk about for my segment the Red Steal on my show The Red Hub. While walking through The Curve’s Street Market / Bazaar. A particular stall caught my eye. A petite, hippiesh, cool looking lady stood behind a table filled with all sorts of badges. These were no normal badges but badges with statements.

I’m a fan of T-Shirts with funky, funny, serious and weird statements. So i decided to stop by and check it out.

Mei Ng is the owner of the stall I Heart Badges. How she started was such a cute tale too. An ex advertising freelancer she was saying she got fed up of wearing the T-Shirts with statements.. or was it tired of finding ones with the statements she wanted.. Something along that line, so she decided to come up with making badges with statements. Brilliant! A statement for each day. You can pin it any where you want and you don’t need to buy a T-shirt too heeehee. Love the idea and concept! She makes them all from her cozy home. I asked her if she made up all the statements and she said she did make some of them but the rest were the power of Google! hehe.

Take a look at some of them and I really liked how she packaged the take home bag too. It’s in a mini popcorn bag… aiiii soo cute!!

Red Breakfast Show : 6am-10am

Lil Kev is back to charm you all with his deep Darth Vader voice. I grew up listening to him back in the days and man I always woke up to extreme entertainment. So it’s a real joy to know I get to work alongside him hehe. But he doesn’t come alone for the show.. No. no no. Accompanying him is the ever popular, lovely and crazy Sarimah. With her range of different accents and coy wit she’ll wake anyone up with a… what did she just say? Lol. To give them all the supportive love is our Red Breakfast Producer Ken! You’ll hear him every once in a while during the weekends.

Happy Valentine’s Day 2012

Here’s a story for you.

I remember i had my first Valentine 8 years ago. It was a memorable one, which ended up with me getting into a relationship. Needless to say as the years progressed Valentine’s Day didn’t become a nice picture for me. Instead it was a day of stress.

Because a couple of years back I was the kind of person, that needed Valentine’s Day to be special and perfect. The place and environment had to be special. The person with me should’ve made it a surprise.. and if he didn’t make any arrangements I’ll be thinking oh the day is spoilt. Yeah i was a tough one, i admit it. lol but i’ve grown up.

This year was a memorable Valentine For me. I really enjoyed my Valentines hehe. Don’t ask me why but i did.. it was simple and sweet without a care in the world. Just free flowing.. minus getting stucked in the oh-so-expected jam. But it was all good.

 

 

Whitney Houston Dies at 48 :(

I know it may sound silly, that the death of a singer whom i’ve never met would make my heart just drop to the floor. But that is exactly what i feel like. Like a piece is missing.. actually everytime i hear an artist i’ve grown up listening to or watching has passed away, i feel like i’ve lost a part of me. Because they did shape my life, with their amazing songs and performance on screen.

Today i just found out that one of the greatest singers of our time has passed away… Whitney Houston.

“Whitney Houston, winner of multiple music awards, singer of 11 chart-topping hits on the Hot 100 and one of the biggest superstars to emerge from the 1980s, has died at the age of 48, ithas been reported. No cause of death has been announced yet, but Los Angeles police stated that an emergency call was placed at 3:23 p.m. today saying that the singer was unconscious on the fourth floor of the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Authorities arrived within two minutes, but attempts to resuscitate Houston failed and she was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m.”

A lot has gone on for Whitney and she was set to come back with a new album. She was to perform at the Clive Davis party before the Grammy which is happening tonight… It’s a massive massive shock.

I just want to share that i do not think it’s nice or right for people to look at her negative past. I also don’t think it’s right for people to be sharing horrendous images of Whitney, even if they want to make a point that drugs has it’s effects. Yes we all know that. But i think it’s highly disrespectful. Yes she’s had some bad ups and downs, but imagine what she has to do to maintain her performance standards, her art.. and she has to also go through personal turmoil. it make it even worse that she is in the public eye… Take a listen to what Lionel Richie has to say and there is such a ring of truth in it.

I believe strongly that we should remember her as the sparkling Diva that she is. Just take a look at her list of awards: 2 Emmy Awards, 6 Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Award..among a total of 4115 career awards as of 2010.

She was the only artist to chart 7 consecutive No.1 Billboard Hot 100 hits (“Saving All My Love for You, How Will I Know, Greatest Love of All, I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me), Didn’t We Almost Have it All, So Emotional and Where Do Broken Hearts Go”)

oh and I managed to find Whitney Houston’s very final performance.. and of all the songs. I’m glad she sand this one… “Jesus Loves Me”.. I feel like tearing knowing that she sang a song bout Jesus.. i’m sure she is now in the safe and loving hands of Jesus in heaven. The origin of beautiful music.
